Oh, wow – what a party! I had a great time celebrating Little Fox’s tenth birthday with lots of lovely young book-enthusiasts. Here I am valiantly resisting the cupcakes before everybody arrived:
Today I am full of gratitude. Here are some thank yous:
Thank you to all the little stars and their grown-ups who came along to enjoy story readings, activities and cakes.
It was great to see old friends and new. Some beautiful and clever things were made.
Thank you to Rosalind Beardshaw, whose wonderful illustrations bring Little Fox to life. Ros was partying elsewhere yesterday, but we did one big shout-out for her, among all the happy shouting.
Thank you to Rachel and Graham at Regency Cakes for creating the delightful, scrumptious, foxy cupcakes.
Thank you to Clair, Hilary, Richard, Angela and their colleagues at Heffers Children’s Bookshop in Cambridge, for kindly organising and hosting the event. And for having such a glorious story-chair!
Thank you to Steve, my wonderful husband, chauffeur and general willing helper. Daddy’s Little Star, my first and favourite book, is dedicated to him.
And finally – today I am especially grateful to have my loved ones close by. After last night’s attack in London, my thoughts are with the victims and their families, of this and other atrocities.
A heartfelt thank you to our emergency services personnel, and all those who risk their lives for others in the face of terror.
